A Proud Tradition Since 1963
Mid Murray Pistol Club has proudly served the Swan Hill community since 1963, providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for people to enjoy the sport of target shooting.
What began as a small group of passionate local shooters has grown into one of the region’s well-respected pistol clubs. Built through the dedication, hard work and generosity of generations of volunteers, the club continues to thrive while remaining true to the values on which it was founded.
Our Beginnings
The club was established in 1963, with its first official shoot held over the Queen’s Birthday weekend that year. In its early days, the range primarily catered for full-bore rifle shooting before gradually evolving into a dedicated pistol shooting facility.
Facilities were modest by today’s standards. Early members built much of the club themselves, with hand-operated target systems and basic infrastructure. Through countless hours of volunteer work and a shared passion for the sport, the foundations of the club were created.
Those early members established a culture of friendship, sportsmanship and safety that continues to define Mid Murray Pistol Club today.
Growing Through the Years
Over the decades, the club has continually developed its facilities and expanded the disciplines available to members.
Today, Mid Murray Pistol Club offers a diverse range of pistol shooting disciplines, including:
- Air Pistol
- 25 Metre Rimfire & Centre Fire
- Service Pistol
- WA1500 / WA48
- Black Powder
- IPSC
The club has also proudly hosted numerous local and state competitions, welcoming competitors from across Victoria and interstate while promoting excellence in the shooting sports.
A Club Built by Volunteers
Everything Mid Murray Pistol Club has achieved has been made possible through the commitment of its members.
For more than sixty years, volunteers have maintained the grounds, improved the facilities, organised competitions and welcomed new shooters into the sport. Their dedication has ensured the club continues to grow while preserving its proud traditions.
The club remains committed to fostering a friendly atmosphere where experienced competitors and newcomers alike can learn, compete and enjoy the sport together.
Safety Above Everything
Safety has always been the foundation of Mid Murray Pistol Club.
Every activity conducted at the club is guided by strict safety procedures and responsible firearms handling. Members are encouraged to continually develop their skills in a supportive environment where respect, discipline and sportsmanship are valued just as highly as accuracy.
Whether someone is participating in their first shoot or competing at a high level, safety remains our highest priority.
Looking to the Future
As Mid Murray Pistol Club continues to grow, we remain committed to honouring the dedication of those who built the club while embracing new opportunities for future generations.
With ongoing improvements to our facilities, an expanding range of shooting disciplines and a welcoming community of members, we look forward to continuing our proud tradition for many years to come.
We invite anyone with an interest in the shooting sports to become part of our club and experience the friendship, skill development and sense of community that have defined Mid Murray Pistol Club since 1963.
